El Occidental is a relatively new mezcal brand focused on showcasing the diversity of western Mexico. Instead of producing everything from one region, the lineup features different mezcals from different states, each highlighting local agave varieties and production styles.
The brand aims to offer authentic artisanal mezcal at an approachable price. Production combines traditional methods—such as earthen pit roasting, spontaneous fermentation, and small copper pot distillation—with some modern efficiencies like mechanical milling and cultivated wild agave to keep costs down without sacrificing quality.
