Mexican spirit similar to mezcal and tequila, but made from the Dasylirion leiophyllum agave. The name "Vibora" (Spanish for "small poisonous snakes") is a key element of this sotol's identity, with rattlesnakes being included in the distillation process by being hung in the stills which adds a savory finish. The sotol is then aged in whiskey casks.
